Tulsi in sanskrit means "incomparable one". It is an aromatic short shrub that is considered holy in Hindu religion. It belongs to the basil family. Tulsi has been revered in India for over five thousand years, as a healing balm for body, mind and spirit, and is known to bestow an amazing number of health benefits. A Hindu house hold has the Tulsi planted some where in the middle of the house (or close to living area), for the reason that breathing the air around Tulsi was considered to improve general health.

Fact: Tulsi has one of the highest levels of adaptogen.
Benefit: An adaptogen is an agent that helps the body adapt more efficiently to stress.
Fact: Tulsi is a rich anti-oxidant.
Benefit: It slow down the process of excess oxidation and protect
cells from the damage caused by free radicals. When cells are attacked
by free radicals, excess oxidation occurs which damage and destroy
cells. Antioxidants help reduce disease and general degradation of body and health.
Fact: It is an amino-modulator.
Benefit: An immuno-modulator is an agent that balances and improves the immune response of the body. Hindu's soak leaves of the Tulsi in water and drink it every day. It helps in improving bodies immunity.
Fact: Recent studies suggest that Tulsi may be a natural COX-2 inhibitor - an enzyme responsible for inflammation due to its high concentration of eugenol.

Tulsi - 5-10 leaves
Step 1: Add Tulsi to hot water
Step 2: Leave for couple of minutes
Step 3: Drink 8-10 time a day.

I'm confused, you seem to using holy basil and tulsi interchangeably, are they one and the same? So is it the same as basil leaves that we get here in the states. Anyway I like this article too. Can't wait to read more.
