It is 223 kms / 139 miles north of Sydney in Port Stephens. This is a place for sun and fun. This is the perfect place for a fun filled family outing. You have so many activities you can do here.

There are so various types of places to stay here, you can stay in hotels, motels or camp amidst parks. You can also bike or hike or walk through the trails that have been constructed in these parks.

There are several activities you can do in Nelson Bay. The best has to be the sand dune surfing, yes surfing. They give you specially board that you use to surf down 50-60 feet (or more) sand dunes. They also have mini 4 wheel bikes that you can rent to drive through the sand dunes.

The other interesting activity you can do here is para-gliding. They harness to a glider and then a speed boat pulls you up into the sky. It is a great feeling, once they slow down or stop you drop into the water below and they speed up again (seems more like torture but is great fun).

If you are not the adventurous kind then you might take a cruise ride to see whales or dolphins swimming close to your boat or if you are the wine tasting kind you can drive down to HunterValley which is just a one and half hour drive. The HunterValley offers several wine styles, along with the classic varieties like Chardonnay, Shiraz and Semillon you will also find the newer styles like Verdelho and Chambourcin.
